Jersey City man injures woman in motor vehicle accident

Jersey City police say 44-year-old man struck and injured a woman on May 9 while driving drunk. He has since been charged with assault by auto. According to a criminal complaint, the defendant allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of 0.26 when he rammed his Ford Explorer into the victim's Nissan Pathfinder. The legal limit of the permissible blood alcohol levels in New Jersey is 0.08, which means that the defendant exceeded that amount by three times. Police have not yet disclosed an incident report describing the event in greater detail.

2nd pedestrian hit on dangerous stretch of road

New York State troopers have reported the second collision between a motorist and pedestrian in less than a week's time happening along the same stretch of the Thruway in the Albany, New York, area. The first accident occurred on Interstate 87 in Albany, between the 24th and 23rd exits, on the night of May 4. Troopers say that a 28-year-old man from Rome, New York, died there as he was struck by a truck while standing in the middle of the southbound lane of the interstate.

Illegal drugs a role in New Jersey truck fatality

According the Middlesex County prosecutor's office, a truck driver was under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance when he rear-ended a woman on a New Jersey highway which resulted in her death. Police arrested the man on April 17 at his Robbinsville, New Jersey, home. He has since been charged with aggravated manslaughter and death by auto.
