Tracy Morgan injured in Cranbury, New Jersey, truck accident

New Jersey State Police have charged a Georgia man in connection with a fatal truck accident. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board says the accident occurred in the early morning of June 7, along a stretch of the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranbury, New Jersey. The NTSB statement revealed that a commercial tractor-trailer, a limousine van and several other vehicles were involved in the accident. A New York man died in the truck accident and three other people were seriously injured.

Officials say the driver of the northbound tractor-trailer failed to see traffic had slowed ahead of him as he approached a slower moving 2012 Mercedes Sprinter from behind. The truck then slammed into the back of the limousine van, which contained the actor Tracy Morgan and several other entertainers. The man killed in the collision was Morgan's writing partner and longtime friend. Morgan's publicist says that the actor suffered multiple fractured bones and other injuries. He is expected to recover but will probably remain hospitalized for several weeks.

The driver of the semi-truck later turned himself over to State Police. His attorney was with him at the time. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has charged the driver with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto for his role in allegedly causing the truck accident. The driver was booked and released after posting $50,000 bond.

People injured in truck accidents are likely to receive serious injuries, which may require extensive medical care. They may also miss a great deal of time from work as a result of their injuries. Victims of such crashes may be able to recover damages for their medical costs and lost wages as well as other losses and damages.
