Drunk driver charged in deadly rollover accident

A sport utility vehicle was involved in an accident early on a recent Sunday morning on the Garden State Parkway. One man was killed in the accident when multiple people were ejected from the vehicle. The police have now said that the driver of the SUV was drunk, and he is going to be charged with the death of one of the passengers.

The man who died was 28 years old. He was from Brooklyn, New York. The driver is 29. New Jersey police stated that the driver wasn't in custody yet, though they had plans to arrest him. He was still in the hospital. He'd been taken after the wreck to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, which is in New Brunswick, to be treated for his injuries.

There were four people in the SUV at the time of the accident. Two of them had their seat belts on, and they suffered lesser injuries. However, they did need treatment. Neither the driver nor the young man who passed away were wearing their seat belts, which is why they were both thrown from the SUV.

The police have not yet determined why the SUV flipped, but the investigation is ongoing. They do know that it happened on the expressway's southbound lanes, and it took place close to mile marker 122.3. They had to shut down some lanes for over four hours, getting them opened back up about a half an hour before noon.

Anyone who has been hurt by a drunk driver may be able to seek compensation, even if he or she was in the same vehicle as that driver.
