Crash on Garden State Parkway leads to serious injuries

A car accident on the Garden State Parkway has left two women with serious injuries, and the driver of the car is now going to face charges. According to the New Jersey State Police, the woman was intoxicated while she was driving, which is what led to the accident.

The two women in the car do not appear to be related. The driver was 43 years old, and her passenger was 35 years old. The driver was from Orange, while the passenger was from Shrewsbury.

The wreck, which happened about 1:15 a.m., started when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, even though no other cars were involved. They were traveling in the southbound lanes at the time, and the vehicle left the roadway and slammed into the guardrail that runs along the side of the highway. This all happened in Irvington, right by milepost 143.6.

Though no official word on their conditions has been released, they were both hurt, and emergency crews transported them to the hospital. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle as it crashed, leading to her injuries.

The charges that the police have announced for the driver include driving under the influence of alcohol and assault with an automobile.

When a DUI crash leads to serious injuries, even if you were in the same car as the drunk driver and it was just a single car accident, you may still be able to seek compensation for those injuries. Be sure that you know your rights after expensive treatment and an extensive hospital stay.
